Answer - (i) The group of islands lying in the Arabian Sea is the Lakshadweep Islands.
(ii) Countries larger than India include Russia, Canada, China, the United States of America, and Brazil.
(iii) The Andaman and Nicobar Islands lie to the south-east of India.
(iv) Our southern island neighbours are Sri Lanka and Maldives.
Q3. The sun rises two hours earlier in Arunachal Pradesh as compared to Gujarat in the west but the watches show the same time. How does this happen?
Answer - India follows a single time zone called Indian Standard Time (IST), based on the 82.5° E longitude. Due to this, although the sun rises earlier in eastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, the clocks show the same time throughout India, resulting in a difference between actual sunrise time and clock time across regions.
